So Brighton and Hove's new status as a city will be "significant in stimulating economic and cultural activity and retaining and attracting investment and jobs" (December 18).
It is perhaps worth noting, before we get carried away with the euphoria, Brighton and Hove is bordered to the south by the sea, to the north by the Downs and to the east and west by autonomous boroughs.
It has no green or brownfield sites worth mentioning, few offices to rent, inadequate off-street parking and a traffic problem approaching permanent gridlock.
I suggest Brighton and Hove councillors who have wasted their time and effort pursuing this nonsense could better spend their time tackling the problems we have before creating any more.
