Hailsham Memorial Institute are in the driving seat at the top of Lewes League Division One after a 4-1 win over Peacehaven A.
Gary Page gave Peacehaven a good start by beating Anthony Venables 57-29 before Hailsham took control with Ian Davis sinking Barry Goldsmith 63-8 after a break of 62.
Hailsham secured their victory as Neale Hoad outpotted Ian Smith (70-28), Adrian Lepper defeated Fred Lace and Wayne Hill completed the scoresheet with a 63-25 win over Matt Sharp.
Hailsham have 46 points from 12 matches and the heat is on Newhaven A, who have 46 points from 13 following their 5-0 win over Uckfield A.
Newhaven's whitewash came courtesy of Phil Herrington, Simon Easton, Ashley Ball, Lou Marshall and Sean Payne (break of 26).
Lewes Workingmen's triumphed over Uckfield B 3-2 through Mike and Ian Fitzgerald and a Cecil Tregus walkover. Richard Russell and Colin Atkins responded for Uckfield.
Cliffe Legion A lost 4-1 to Q-Ball A with John Myles their only success.
James Taylor, the Lewes champion playing for Q-Ball, notched a break of 28.
In Division Two, Uckfield C slid to a 4-1 defeat against Q-Ball B as Jim Pickfall claimed their only success.
Newhaven Constitutional beat Peacehaven in the derby battle of the B teams. The winners for Newhaven were Dan Harris, Stuart and Adie Finney, who completed the great escape after Lee Barraclough and Steve Gain had given Peacehaven a 2-0 lead.
Lewes B took four valuable points off Hastings in the East Sussex Senior League which may well prove crucial as Hastings bid to regain the title.
Hastings got off to a good start when Mick Wood beat Anthony Venables 110-10 with breaks of 60 and 42. A second frame success of 70-25 made it 2-0.
James Loft (57 and 34 breaks) lost 2-0 to Lewes' Wayne Hill (51 and 32) as their first frame proved a 76-67 thriller. Hill won the second 57-48.
Then came another shock for Hastings when Neale Hoad beat Mark Tilbury 61-63 and 67-50.
Chris Quinnell brought the visitors at Hailsham MI level by beating Lee Matthews 80-23 and 75-14 including a break of 36.
Paul Davis made a 55 in beating Lewes' Ben Gibbs 85-20 and 70-48 and secured the 6-4 triumph.
Royal Mail A maintained their place at the top of Division A in the Worthing League despite a 3-2 defeat to Lancing Empire who go second.
The upset of the match was Adrian Jackson's win over Worthing star Elliott Bradley. There were two 32 breaks, one for Jason Goodwin of Mail and one for Paul Morgan of Lancing.
Tennis A beat Revenue A 4-1 to stay third.
Worthing Central B sunk Goring 3-2 to stay top of Division B. The three points were earned by Adrian Croft, John Gander and John Yeoman with Glen Gumpright and Tony Lane replying.
Southwick A in second place sat out their bye.
Durrington Workingmen's Club B stay third after a surprise 3-2 defeat against bottom side Southwick B. Alan Ward, Les Simmonds, who beat league secretary Arthur Manday, and Peter Metcalf won for Southwick as Derek Scott and Lee Morley replied for Durrington.
Lancing Empire remain top of Division C despite being inactive.
Durrington Workingmen's Club beat Storrington 3-2 through Adam Welham, Gavin Horne and Morris Upton to remain in second spot. The Storrington scorers were Ron Chrismas and Neil Humphrey.
Durrington Social B stay top of Division D after beating Shoreham C 3-2.
Shoreham B stayed third after beating Durrington Workingmen's D 3-2 through Roy and John Liddle and Stuart Parley.
Lancing Empire A beat New Central B 3-2 to stay top of the Central League. Dave Alderton hit a 34 to join John Wooller and Ron Scriven on the victory list.
Second-placed Durrington Social A lost out to New Central A 2-1 thanks to frames from Mike Ford and Alan Cole.
