Detectives have arrested the father of a 12-year-old boy found dead in a house.

Police said yesterday they wanted to interview Henry Bangs, 48, formerly of Brighton, after the body of 12-year-old Tony Bangs was discovered at the house in Blackpool, Lancashire.

Henry Bangs is believed to have recently moved to the resort from Brighton. He was understood to be estranged from his wife, who still lives in Sussex.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "We can now say we are no longer looking for Henry Bangs.

"A 48-year-old man was arrested last night in the Blackpool area in connection with the death."

Two other boys in the house were being cared for by specially-trained police officers and social workers.

Tony Bangs, who was described as a popular schoolboy, is believed to have been strangled. Police said the death was being treated as "suspicious".
