Bus and rail services were getting back to normal this morning after yesterday's big freeze.

Some Brighton and Hove buses are still taking detours around streets which are still considered too dangerous to negotiate.

Buses are avoiding Lark Hill in Hangleton, Rotherfield Crescent in Hollingbury, Coombe Vale in Saltdean and Buller Road in Brighton.

Police have also closed Braybourne Avenue and buses are being diverted along London Road.

Roger French, managing director of Brighton and Hove Buses, said services should be back to normal by lunchtime.

Sussex Police also said the roads had improved significantly this morning compared with yesterday.

There have been a few reports of ice patches but no accidents.

A spokesman said: "It's a much better picture this morning. I think people have had time to get used to the idea and the gritters seem to have been out."

Rail services were also back to normal throughout the county this morning. Connex reported no cancellations due to weather.
