Councillors will make alterations to new parking regulations after consulting residents.
They plan 43 changes to the central Hove parking scheme for inclusion in the next round of consultation.
That will take place after Traffic Orders giving the city council the power to enforce the regulations are published early next year.
Councillor Simon Battle, whose Vallance ward is affected by the plans, said: "It now more closely reflects what people want to see on a street-by-street basis.
"Many of the changes are minor tweaks, but together they will deliver an effective parking scheme for central Hove."
The scheme is designed to give residents priority parking within the new central Hove parking zone.
Changes will include more disabled bays in shopping areas and motorcycle bays in most streets.
Councillor Frieda Warman-Brown said: "The whole community will gain from the clampdown on illegal parking which exists at the moment and which endangers lives and cripples the bus network."
Parking permit charges in Hove have been fixed at £50 a year for residents and £160 a year for businesses.
Pay and display permit charges for visitors and hotel guests will be £1 a day, while the disabled and carers will be able to park free.
A parking hotline has been set up to deal with residents' questions on 0800 028 6702.
Vallance ward councillors have also set up a parking web site at www.hoveparking.co.uk
