Leading senior performances for the 2000 track season have just been revealed.
But, apart from the walkers, just five Sussex athletes gained a place in the national top ten. Crawley hammer thrower Mick Jones is the only Sussex athlete to top any of the lists.
Sean Baldock from Hastings and Crawley's Nick Buckfield are third in the 400m and pole vault respectively while Lucy Webber from Burgess Hill is fourth in the women's pole vault.
Brighton & Hove's Claire Smithson, who is still only 17, is placed sixth in the discus throw.
The Sussex Top Ten is still being compiled and several clubs have yet to make their returns.
Lists will close at the end of this month and clubs or individuals not wishing to have their performances overlooked should send details to the county administrator as soon as possible.
Steyning Athletic club hold their Open 15km road walk next Saturday, starting at the Town Clock at 2pm.
