Whitehawk boss Colin Jenkinson believes his old club Horsham YMCA are favourites for the title.

Hawks have been beaten by Pagham and Hassocks recently but Jenkinson said: "YM are head and shoulders above anything I have seen this season.

"Because of my connections there it would be nice to see them win it but, if they come to Whitehawk needing a win at the end of the season, I would love to do them 1-0."

YM boss John Suter will not get carried away by such praise.

He said: "Hassocks have got a better record than Pagham and Pagham have got a better record than us."

Suter was impressed by debutant Gil Taylor, a fireman from Gatwick, when he came on up front for the closing stages of YM's pleasing 2-1 midweek win at soggy Selsey.

Chris Piper is back in training with Eastbourne Town and manager Pete Cherry hoped to have him available for today's visit of Selsey.

Piper, who has played for both Langney Sports and Eastbourne United, was watching from the sidelines when Town drew 1-1 with East-bourne United on Boxing Day.

Cherry hopes to have talks with targets Simon Colbran, Mark Warren and Danny Birkens this weekend.

Colbran is at Langney, Warren at Shinewater and Birkens is one of Micky French's East-bourne United side.

Lancing conceded another late equaliser and this time boss Andy Gander admitted: "It felt as if we had lost."

Their winless run was extended to 11 games when Eastbourne United converted a stoppage time penalty at The Oval on Tuesday.

It was Lancing's second successive 2-2 draw, the first having come against Wick, for whom Rob Grim scored late.

But Gander said: "This was a different sort of game. Wick are a far superior side to United. At least we have improved over the last two or three games, but Tuesday night was disappointing."
