Albion marksman Darren Freeman is on course for his first start in over four months against the club he quit to join the Seagulls.

The Brighton-born forward is expected to figure from the kick-off in tomorrow night's LDV Vans Trophy tie against Brentford.

That match has been switched to Griffin Park due to the current state of the Withdean pitch.

Manager Micky Adams said: "I will probably experiment slightly against Brentford.

"There may not be as many changes as in the last round against Cardiff, but I will certainly give some a go."

Freeman was top scorer in his debut season for the Seagulls with 13 goals following a Bosman free transfer move from the Bees.

This season has been an injury-hit nightmare so far for the 27-year-old former Fulham and Gillingham frontrunner.

He played through pain during the first five matches of the campaign before hernia surgery.

Freeman then required a second hernia operation, which ruled him out until just before Christmas.

He made his comeback in the second half at Mansfield and has also been used as a substitute in the last three matches against Exeter, Barnet and Southend.

Ticket prices have been reduced and there are still plenty left for the second round southern section tie.

Albion are five points behind Chesterfield with a game in hand after the leaders were held to a 0-0 draw at Shrewsbury on Saturday. Rochdale are fourth, four points behind the Seagulls with a match in hand, following a 2-1 win at Darlington.
