So Brighton and Hove Council will take no action against its officer for his attack on the Campaign for a Better Brighton and Hove (January 3).
It's hardly surprising, they are their own judge and jury after all. The Hove RIP leaflet was no more misleading than the council's claims for city status. We are also happy to use the word "codswallop".
In his New Year message, Ivor Caplin thanked Hove residents for their help in winning city status but the real verdict will be given by the voters of Hove at the forthcoming election.
