Albion stopper Matthew Wicks has suffered a second injury blow.

Wicks has recovered from a hamstring strain sustained just before Christmas against Exeter.

Now a calf injury in training has ruled the young central defender out of tonight's LDV Vans Trophy visit to Brentford, which has been switched to Griffin Park due to pitch repairs at Withdean.

Manager Micky Adams said: "It's nothing major, only a tweak, but he won't be risked."

Adams fielded a makeshift side in the first round victory against Cardiff.

He will make fewer changes this time following the postponement of last Saturday's League game at Withdean against Lincoln.

Adams said: "Because our last game was on January 1st, the team that plays against Brentford won't be too far away from the one which plays at Kidderminster on Saturday.

"That is our main aim and I want people to show me they want to play in that game."

Brentford old boy Charlie Oatway is banned for one match, but fellow former Bees Danny Cullip, Paul Watson and Darren Freeman are all expected to figure.

Adams' reign as Brentford manager was brought to an abrupt end by controversial club owner Ron Noades and his No. 2 Bob Booker served the West Londoners for a total of 22 years, so the tie has an extra edge.

"I don't want to be talking about him (Noades) or his staff," Adams added. "We respect them because they are a Second Division team.

"It's still a competition with quite an incentive. The final is not at Wembley this year, but the Millennium Stadium packed with 70,000 people would be quite a game, so we are not treating it lightly."

A place in the southern section quarter-finals is at stake and Adams wants to avoid a personal hat-trick of golden goal exits.

Sudden death extra-time accounted for his Fulham team at the Goldstone in 1996 and the Seagulls at Bournemouth last season.
