I agree with Charles Goode's letter (Opinion, January 8).
It is more pleasant to drive to Lewes than venture into Brighton. We keep hearing about St James' Street but I cannot see any point in going there now that the second-hand bookshops are closing down.
In Lewes, though, there are plenty to make for an afternoon's browsing - after which there is nothing better than to sit in a cafe with a pot of tea. Brighton could learn much from Lewes.
