Albion boss Micky Adams wants to put goal king Bobby Zamora on the spot at Kidderminster on Saturday.

He has nominated Zamora as the Seagulls' new penalty taker following Tuesday's shoot-out exit from the LDV Vans Trophy at Brentford.

Paul Watson has lost the role after his spot-kick was saved in the shoot-out.

Four of Watson's six goals have been penalties, but he shot over the bar at Barnet on Boxing Day and had another saved earlier in the season against Cheltenham.

Darren Freeman, who took penalties last season, also missed in Tuesday's shoot-out, which Albion lost 4-2. Andy Crosby and Kerry Mayo both scored, but Adams has turned to 17-goal Zamora.

"He was apparently down for the fifth penalty," Adams revealed. "I would like to see him take it if we get one at Kidderminster. Certainly Watson won't."

Zamora has been put on the spot before for the Seagulls. The prolific 19-year-old completed his hat-trick with a penalty at Chester last season.

Zamora is likely to be partnered again up front on Saturday by Paul Brooker.

The former Fulham winger bagged his first goal of the season at Brentford before becoming one of the unfortunate victims of a double substitution arising from Danny Cullip's red card.

"We need people like Paul Brooker to be on the ball as much as possible," Adams said.

"Myself and Bob Booker thought a role just off Zamora might help them both and the pair of them caused Brentford all sorts of problems."

Adams has yet to study footage of Cullip's dismissal for elbowing. Cullip will now be available for the Withdean showdown against promotion rivals Cardiff on February 10.

Albion's trip to Rochdale, postponed at the end of last month, has been rearranged for Tuesday, February 6 and will count as the third game of Cullip's three-match ban.
