Company bosses have pledged to make equal opportunities one of their highest priorities during the next few years, according to a new survey.
Most managers polled by the Industrial Society said the issue would become more important.
Angela Ishmael of the Industrial Society said: "Our research shows companies are making diversity a priority but our findings also show the rhetoric has yet to translate into reality.
"Good intentions are not matched by sustained commitment in practice."
