Household giant Kimberly-Clark has launched a recruitment campaign to fill 300 Sussex vacancies - but says it cannot reveal exactly where.
The corporation has yet to sign a deal on suitable premises for its European Shared Service Centre in Brighton.
Recruits will be told their new workplace will be in "central Brighton".
Kimberly-Clark, the corporation behind some of Europe's best-known brands including Kleenex, Andrex and Huggies, announced its plans for the centre in Brighton last year.
Business leaders hailed the decision as a victory in a long-running campaign to lure prominent companies to the area and said it was a major boost for the economy.
Kimberly-Clark is now looking for professional and administrative staff in accountancy, purchasing and customer services.
The corporation has been locked in negotiations for months to find a building.
It has looked at vacant offices in Preston Road and the former headquarters of Alliance and Leicester, which backs on to Hove Park.
Among other possible sites are the former Sunblest factory in Woodingdean and Princes' House in Queen's Road, near Brighton station.
But the corporation is refusing to reveal which buildings are being considered until a deal has been agreed. A decision is expected by the end of this month.
A spokeswoman said: "Nobody is going to start work before May or June and that will just be training, so it will not be a problem. The offices will be open in August."
The centre will become Kimberley-Clark's European headquarters for a string of administration departments, which were spread across 14 countries.
Company directors said Brighton was chosen because it "offers the combined benefits of a highly skilled and motivated workforce, a first class location and a pleasant working environment".
