Thieves have stolen a baby's christening gifts and the first pictures of its life.

They broke into the family home and stole presents and a video camera containing footage of seven-month-old Megan Wright's birth and her first Christmas.

Her mother Nicola Chalcraft, 30, is desperate to get the film back and has offered a reward.

She said: "The film is worthless to the thief but priceless to us. Please, please can we have it back?"

Miss Chalcraft and her salesman fianc Matthew Wright, 21, discovered the break-in at their home in Franklin Road, Brighton, after a shopping trip.

The thieves - police suspect they were teenagers, possibly girls - stole Nicola's perfumes, Megan's piggy bank, the Canon camcorder and a camera containing pictures of Megan's first months.

The total loss has been put at £3,500 but Miss Chalcraft said all the items were insured.

She said: "It is not the money that hurts so much as the loss of the film and photographs. We can never replace them.

"They didn't steal any of my fianc's things so if it was girls who broke in then I hope it preys on their conscience. They may have babies of their own one day."

The tape is marked "Megan" and anyone finding it or any other items should contact the Brighton police crime management centre on 0845 6070 999.
