Albion kept on course for promotion with a 2-0 win over Kidderminster, thanks to a crazy own goal and the coolness of Bobby Zamora.

A bizarre blunder by Kidderminster's Adie Smith put the Seagulls ahead in the 36th minute.

Zamora then made certain of three more precious points with an 80th minute penalty, his 18th goal of the season.

A disappointing first half before a crowd of 4,056 at Aggborough Stadium was notable only for Smith's unexpected error.

Paul Watson's free-kick from inside the Albion half was headed over his own keeper Stuart Brock by Kidderminster's long serving midfielder.

Albion stepped up the pace after the break and were rewarded when Zamora was pulled back inside the box by Craig Hinton.

The young marksman, doubtful before the game with a bug, showed no nerves as he calmly sent Brock the wrong way from the spot.

Zamora has been installed as Albion's new penalty taker by boss Micky Adams following Watson's miss in the shoot-out at Brentford on Tuesday.

His first away League goal of the campaign sealed the Seagulls fifth win out of seven, to the delight of their travelling army of 1,200 fans.

Zamora, his job done, was replaced in the closing stages by Scott Ramsay.

Albion were worthy winners on the strength of an improved second half showing.

Kidderminster rarely threatened, although front pair Ian Foster and John Durnin both had appeals for penalties rejected following challenges by Danny Cullip.
