There have been suggestions from correspondents that Hove was kidnapped by Brighton.
I attended a meeting at Lewes, organised so that the public could express its opinion on the proposed local government reorganisation.
When it was suggested from the floor that Brighton and Hove be joined, it was greeted with loud applause.
This was, no doubt, prompted by a suggestion that Hove be joined to Worthing, eight miles away, and divided by another authority.
There was no official from the Boundary Commission present.
When the commission made the right choice of a joint Brighton and Hove Unitary Authority, it was not a kidnapping.
