Albion manager Micky Adams is trying to ease the pressure on his promotion-chasing players.

Adams has taken the unusual step of showing his hand early for Saturday's trip to Torquay. He abandoned his normal policy of keeping the players in suspense by announcing the team on Monday.

It shows three changes, with Mark Cartwright recalled in goal, Darren Freeman restored on the right flank and Nathan Jones on the left.

"I want to take a bit of pressure off them," Adams explained. "Perhaps they are putting themselves under pressure when they don't know the team for so long. Darren Freeman has been itching to start a game and he will get his chance on Saturday.

"Nathan Jones is familiar with his role and it's another chance for Mark Cartwright.'

Adams watched the team to face Torquay lose 2-0 away to a strong Millwall side in a reserve fixture yesterday.

Paul Watson went off in the opening minutes with a swollen cheekbone.

An unwell Charlie Oatway did not re-appear for the second half, but both players should be fit for the visit to Plainmoor.

There was further frustration for Adams when a reserve team friendly at Hastings last night was rained off. The match was supposed to launch striker Lee Steele's comeback from a knee injury.

"The game was put on for him really," Adams said. "I'm keen to get him involved.

"If I had known the game was going to be off I would have played him at Millwall."

The axed first team trio of Michel Kuipers, Gary Hart and Paul Brooker were also due to play.
