Last Saturday our local 'pop-in' arranged a coach outing to see the ice show at the Brighton Centre.

A group of six of us decided to eat at the Time Out restaurant in East Street.

Afterwards, one of our group needed the loo so the rest of us waited for her outside. Somehow, though, I picked up some chewing gum under my shoe. I tried to scrape it off but couldn't.

When our friend came back I tried to show her my problem. I lifted my leg, leaning back against a parked car, slipped and hit my leg on the edge of the pavement.

The point of my letter is the kindness that I received.

Firstly from the man who lifted me up. I don't know if I even thanked him. And then from the girl who had served us at lunch who took me back into the restaurant.

She brought me a cup of tea, checked me for damage and got an icepack for my leg. All of this, with no fuss whatever; the restaurant carried on as normal.

After the enjoyable show, the coach brought us back to New Addington and I was in bed by 10pm.

I have rested for a couple of days now and am fine. I'm sure this is due to the kindness I received from the waitress at the Time Out.
