Sussex has undertaken a youth policy that is aimed at kids aged as young as four years.
Around 50 children aged from 4-8 from across the county were at the Triangle Sports Centre in Burgess Hill for a Fun Day.
Sussex LTA have set up nine new Mini Tennis squads which have built up since last September and they all came together in Burgess Hill. The county's tennis development officer, Charlotte Slade, believes the initiative is fast becoming a big hit.
Twelve teams took part including Wickwoods (Albourne), Field Place (Worthing), Angmering, Plumpton, Newick, Littlehampton, Worthing and Horsham A and B.
Slade said: "There was a competition, but really the session was set up for enjoyment.
"The youngsters were shown some skill drills and I think everybody had a good time. Every kid was a winner and they all came out clutching a certificate of attendance."
Slade is the driving force behind Sussex's efforts to put the governing body's Club Vision scheme into practice. LTA performance director Patrice Hagelauer wants to encourage clubs across the country to make more juniors welcome.
Slade added: "The Minis scheme is similar to Club Vision. The youngsters we had at Burgess Hill are from clubs who came to us because they wanted to widen the pyramid of kids playing the game through Mini Tennis. The LTA gave them some support to do that."
