Police and bailiffs were prepared for trouble when they forced their way into the former Co-op Bank in Ship Street, Brighton, yesterday.
They'd expected confrontation with squatters who had announced they would defy a court order and barricade themselves inside.
But the group, who earlier in the day had hung defiant banners from the windows, disappeared later and the bank was empty.
They may have gone for a while but they'll be back in this building or other empty ones nearby. You can bank on it.
