Lee Steele could start for Albion against Cardiff on Saturday.
The striker had his first full game since December in a 2-0 friendly win for the reserves at Portsmouth yesterday. Steele didn't score, but reserve boss Dean White said: "He got a full 90 minutes in, which was important for him.
"He hit the bar with a header and came through unscathed, which is a bonus."
Manager Micky Adams hastily arranged the match following the postponement of last night's reserve fixture against Leyton Orient. Asked if the fit-again marksman will start against Cardiff, Adams said: "He has put himself in the frame now."
Nathan Jones, who also played yesterday, and Danny Cullip are suspended while Paul Brooker is doubtful because of a back injury.
