Rob Whitehouse celebrated his elevation from the third team by scoring twice.
He helped South Saxons to a 3-0 victory over Lewes IV in the Premier Division of the Sussex Open League. Jeremy Bunday was also on target as Saxons recorded their 15th win from 16 games.
Crowborough remained second with a 3-1 win over Worthing III thanks to goals from Phil Newington (two), Mark Forster (two) and Roger Howard. Dan Lock got the lone reply.
Southwick are third in the table after a 4-1 victory away to Chichester 3A with Dominic Johnson, Andy Cockerell, Andy Skinner and Tristan Burton on target.
Goals from Ian Brown (two), Hamish White and Kris Dance helped Horsham IV to a 4-2 victory at home to South Saxons II. The replies came from Jeff Brown and Damian Bunting.
Middleton and Bognor II shared six goals with Brighton IV. Chris Pacey, Richard Bond and Mark Dawling were the marksmen for M&B.
Sussex University beat Littlehampton 1-0.
It was a good day for Penguins in Division One with victory for both their sides.
Penguins II ran out 4-0 winners away to Lewes V thanks to goals from Steve Ward (two), Richard Antram and John Rogers.
Richard Stranwick also netted twice, with Rob Howland and James Collins joining him on the scoresheet, as Penguins III continued their revival with a 4-0 success at home to Middleton and Bognor III.
Leaders Sussex Police were held to a 2-2 draw by Worthing IV. Mark Cranley and Paul Sellings netted for the Police, while Paul Thornton and Martin Stevens were on target for Worthing.
South Saxons III were disappointed to lose 30-goal striker Rob Whitehouse to the first team but it did not stop them from running out 4-2 winners away to Brighton V. John Morgan hit a hat-trick and Bob Phillips grabbed the other.
A blood and guts display by Hailsham saw them take all three points against St Francis, winning 1-0 with a tremendous goal from Steve Johnson who finished off a move involving brother Ian and Mike Dixon.
Stuart Beaney scored twice and had two other goals disallowed as Southwick II drew 3-3 with Crawley III. Southwick's other goal was a super effort from Alex Miller.
Division Two leaders Crow-borough II enjoyed a 3-1 victory over Southwick III. Terry Talbot, David Burns and Roger Howard found the net with Spencer Taylor getting the lone reply.
Billypickles maintained the pressure with a 4-2 win over Crawley IV. Neil Brenson scored twice to give them a flying start but complacency set in and Crawley hit back to level. Billypickles had to dig deep and further goals followed from Neil Skates and Brad Read.
Lewes 5A are fourth following a comfortable 6-1 win over Chichester Chip-munks. Ali Tenquist and Paul Spruce netted two apiece with Simon Rea and Paul Davis also on target.
Worthing IV ran out 5-3 winners over Eastbourne IV thanks to John Herbert (three), Dave Carter and Alan Bignall.
Rock bottom Newhaven II gained a creditable 2-2 draw with Mid Sussex III, although it could have been better as they were two goals ahead. Seb Birch and Will Dobson, with a terrific goal, were the Newhaven scorers.
Lewes Lions remain second in Division Four after edging out East Grinstead Badgers 3-2 in a thrilling encounter. Tom Crook and De Souza were the Lewes scorers.
John Beales scored a hat-trick as Southwick IV crushed Brighton Flippers 6-0. Robert Lowe (two) and 13-year-old Richard Baldwin also netted.
Hailsham II lost 5-0 to Crawley V. Craig Tasane had another storming game in goal for Hailsham, making one fantastic save and late in the game he saved yet another penalty flick, making it five out of five for the season.
Lewes II remain sixth in Division One of the 2nd XI Premier League after losing 6-1 at home to lowly Fareham.
Horsham II beat Old Whitgiftians in Division Two thanks to goals from Tim Dodd, Peter Lambert and Richard Blakesley.
Chichester maintained top spot with a comfortable 6-0 success away to Ashford.
Horsham III went bottom of the Open Premier League Division Three following their 8-2 defeat away to leaders East Grinstead III. Simon Jones and Tony Wassell got the consolations.
Worthing II enjoyed a 5-0 victory over Maidstone in 2nd XI Kent and Sussex Regional League thanks to goals from Phil Lord (two), Mark Newson, Andy Gough and Dave Pencils.
Lewes came from behind to beat Eastbourne 4-1 in the Premier Division of the Sussex Ladies' League.
Kerry Pegler converted a short corner to draw Lewes level and with a minute of the first half remaining Caroline Petty pounced on a loose ball to make it 2-1.
The second half was a formality after Sara Riley had scored a third for Lewes.
Rachel Jordan produced a fine performance for Lewes II but could not stop her side stumbling to a 2-0 defeat at Burgess Hill.
Andie Chambers got the consolation as Worthing lost 6-1 at home to Chichester.
Sussex Police beat Penguins 2-1 in Division One with goals from Julie Oades and Anna Skinner.
A goal from Cara Briggs could not stop Worthing II from losing 2-1 at home to Brighton University.
In Division Two, Lewes III had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Crawley. Lewes had 80 per cent of the possession but only had a Helen Jones goal to show for their efforts.
Mid Sussex overcame Eastbourne III 5-0 in Division Four with goals from Julie Swaysland (two), Ley Finlayson, Carrie Barraclough and Kath Buckeridge.
Mark Limbrick, from Angmering, was part of the Guildford squad which won the National Indoor Championships at Crystal Palace last Friday. Guildford will now represent England in Europe in 2002.
