Dnton Island member John Sullivan was sunk 21-8 by Charles Wright in the area quarter-finals of the men's national singles at Gullivers.
Wright now entertains Martin Biggleston of Eastbourne while Preston's Adrian Finnie, following his 21-16 win at Egerton Park over Steve Sands, plays his club colleague Ollie Ovett.
There was a home draw and an easy ride for Worthing's Tom Campbell and Chris Young in the quarter-finals of the national pairs as they won 24-12 after 19 ends against Ted Brierley and Eric Hopgood of Palmerston.
They next entertain club colleagues Steve Hawkes and Eric Pidgeon or Nick Dudman and Colin Brown from neighbours Worthing Pavilion.
Glyn Hesketh and Richard Moses had to work for their 23-14 home win over Dudley Pile and Ron Humphrey of Grattons. The Preston pair led 7-6 at six ends but with a run of 1,1,4,1,2 starting on the 13th took control.
They have a home semi-final against Biggleston and Derek Dyer or club colleagues Eric South and Basil Holding.
Worthing's Steve Hawkes, Eric Pidgeon and Keith Cruise bowled solidly in their 25-12 triumph after 16 ends at home to Keith Robertson, Darren Griffiths and Steve Robertson (Victory) in the national triples area quarter-final and now host either D. Smith (Havant Borough) or Iain Mackenzie of Victory.
South, Joe Galelli and Holding beat club-mates Dennis Alderton, Eddie Baker and Dave Woosnam and won 18-13.
Looking dead and buried when 17-6 down after 15 ends at home to Trevor Bailey's team from Havant Borough, Worthing's Steve Hawkes, Bill Smithers, Eric Pidgeon and Keith Cruise produced a run of 1,2,2,1,3,3 to win 18-17 in the quarter-finals of the fours.
Adrian Finnie, Andy Smalldridge, Dave and Ollie Ovett opened up a seven-shot lead with a three on the 14th end and won 21-17 at home to Ted Norris, Howard Robinson, Ralph Steele and Malcolm Goman of Spooners and the Preston quartet now visit Wealden to play Bob Gooding's team who did well to win 22-18 at Egerton Park over Trevor Monk, Ray Hodd, Steve Sands and Gerry Mepham.
In the all-Adur tie Dave Cornwell, Roy Bainbridge, George Shaw and John Godfrey beat David Mole, John Waller, Peter Wilkinson and Terry Stevens 20-14. They now entertain either Graham Ives of Horsham or Mick Law of Grattons.
By virtue of a shot drawn on the extra end by Eric Pidgeon, Worthing's Val Atkins, Gill Robinson, Pidgeon and John Dicker won their home area semi-final in the mixed fours against Gloria Taravill, Sandra and Tom Pullen and Iain Mackenzie of Victory.
In the final they will play Charlie Bailey's Victoria four or Worthing colleagues Carol Rose, Tom Campbell, Wendy Davies and Peter Tandy.
Preston's Peter Wood, Kathy Flood, Terri Wall and Pat Flood scored four shots on the 20th end and two on the last to win their area semi-final 20-15 at Wealden over the Houghs' (Doreen and Brian) and Jepsons' (Hazel and Peter) with February 27 at Denton Island the date fixed for all the area finals unless any players are in more than one event.
