Going to George Street, Hove, I could not believe my eyes.
I saw what I can only describe as flagrant vandalism being carried out by construction, or should I say destruction, workmen. It would be punishable by law if committed by a member of the public.
The perfect pavior tiles laid out three years ago in parquet floor style, are being ripped up and replaced with hideous cobblestone-type bricks.
Many of the pavements in Hove are in a dreadful state, badly in need of repair, yet thousands are being spent in George Street unnecessarily.
I have spoken to shop keepers who say this is the final blow to their business.
For all the difference this will make to businesses and their customers, it would have been far better left alone. A few seats and flower pots do not warrant this expensive upheaval.
