A Sussex welding firm has played a major role in the development of an important new product destined to revolutionise the trade.
Arun Welding Supplies, of Ford, near Arundel, took part in three years of research into the development of Mirec 7, a spray said to dramatically cut time spent on welding.
The spray was developed by Eric Barker, owner of a Bolton-based welding company, who recruited long-term business associate Ron Keats, of Arun Welding, to help with testing the new product.
Mr Barker said: "We are very excited about this product. It is going to greatly benefit the welding industry in time saved and make the welding procedure easier for the operator.
"We have had valuable assistance from major manufacturers and great help with field trials."
Mr Keats said: "Mirec 7 is an advanced anti-spatter, wire lubricant and corrosion protection combination which makes it unnecessary for more than one product to be used in the welding process.
"It can cut the time spent on each workshop fabrication by 15 to 20 per cent."
Eric and Ron are now preparing to launch Mirec 7 nationwide.
