There's more grim news from the South Korean car giant Daewoo, which has issued redundancy notices to another 187 employees.
Not long ago this firm was one of the largest in Worthing and seemed to have a sparkling future.
Following financial problems faced by the parent company there are now only 250 employees left at Worthing and the future looks bleak.
Although redundancy packages are being offered to the stricken staff, their treatment by Daewoo during the last year has left a lot to be desired.
If this is the way they deal with people normally, no wonder they are in trouble.
In the old days when Worthing was largely a seaside resort, the local economy was very much in the hands of local people.
Now a chill wind blowing through the economy in Asia can blow a gale of redundancies thousands of miles away on the Sussex coast and no one there can do anything about it.
