While recently taking a stroll with a friend on the Palace Pier in the hope of a peaceful, leisurely hour, we were relentlessly bombarded by the relayed England- Wales rugby match. There was no escape - loudspeakers at regular intervals.
Surely those who wished to follow this unmissable event would watch it somewhere other than on the pier? If there is no match, there is deafening piped music. Why? Aren't there enough pubs and bars in Brighton offering this?
Let's hope the renovated West Pier will offer some peace and tranquility, whenever that might be.
