MY sympathy goes out to the family who lost a relative on February 10 at the Royal Sussex County Hospital owing to a tragic accident with an injection.
My sympathy also goes out to the overworked and stressed-out doctors who have to work all hours, day and night.
Why is it lorry drivers have to work to stated hours and must not drive more than 11 hours at a time? Why does this Government force doctors in hospitals to do more time working, so getting stressed and putting peoples' lives at risk?
I was in the Sussex County Hospital last year for two risky operations on arteries in my legs. I had both operations done by the same team. Yet I felt relaxed and safe because of the consultant radiologist. I never felt at risk.
I would like to say thank you to Marcus, the anaesthetist, and to the consultant radiologist, whose name I don't know, for everything they did.
It's time for health minister Alan Milburn and the hospital trust management to go into the hospitals and look all over to see what the medical staff have to do before we have any more tragic accidents. Give doctors less working time.
