Pagham boss Richie Reynolds has called for action after alleging one of his players was racially abused in Tuesday's Sussex Senior Cup tie with Bognor.

Reynolds says Paul Morby received abuse from a Bognor player and now he wants to take the matter to the Sussex FA.

Pagham's committee were due to meet last night to consider what action to take.

Reynolds said: "One of our lads was subject to a torrent of racial abuse. He was distraught and in tears after the game.

"Immediately after the game they Bognor were made aware of the racial abuse."

The Pagham manager is angry about the matter but admits he will be guided by his committee over what action to take.

He added: "It is a club decision. If there is an avenue to go down we will pursue it."

Bognor won the game 6-4 after extra time, having trailed 4-2 until Adie Miles pulled a goal back in the 89th minute.

Pagham are also unhappy about the time keeping.

Reynolds said: "We are considering an appeal about Tuesday's game. The referee has admitted his watch stopped. There were 12 minutes of added time. They scored their third goal in the 89th minute and their fourth goal in the 97th.

"We have no right of appeal over that but our appeal may be based on racist abuse."

WORTHING RELEASES WEBBER Worthing have released defender Damian Webber as manager Sammy Donnelly begins rebuilding his squad for next season.

The former Crawley and Millwall centre half is expected to retire at the end of the season.

Donnelly, whose side have not won for 12 games, go to Uxbridge tomorrow without suspended trio Danny Smith, Marc Rice and Neil Winter. Spencer Mintram (broken nose) is a major doubt.

But skipper Mark Burt should start his first game after injury problems.

WAKELING PRAISED Hastings chairman Peter Huggins has saluted manager George Wakeling for bringing the club back into contention for promotion.

He said: "When George came here he took a low profile, but gradually he got more involved and now the players love him. He is a gentleman, but firm and there's no doubting who's in charge now."

Hastings are in sixth the Dr Martens eastern division, nine points off a promotion place.
