A car is one of the biggest investments most people will ever make.

Spending hundreds, or more often thousands, of pounds on one item is a big decision that has a lasting impact on people's lives.

But some car owners think nothing of casting off their unwanted vehicles and leaving them stranded in the street for someone else to deal with.

The problem of removing abandoned cars in Brighton and Hove costs the council £20,000 a year.

They are also an eyesore and raise the fear of crime in the neighbourhoods where they are abandoned.

Taxpayers' money used to clear the streets would be better spent on education or housing, not on lazy, greedy car owners who care more about their own pockets than the appearance, environment and future of the city they live in.
