Pagham are top on goal difference following a day when none of the top five in division one won.

They conceded a last-minute equaliser to Sean Edwards as visitors Burgess Hill secured a 1-1 draw in the league's match of the day, while Horsham YMCA, Hassocks and Chichester all suffered defeats.

But Hillians were disappointed not to take maximum points.

Hillians coach Graham Marchant said: "It was a game we should have won. I think they were tired after the extra time they played against Bognor on Tuesday but we dominated."

As for their title chances, Marchant added: "Whoever finishes above us will win the league, but I still fancy us strongly."

Lee Stevens put Pagham ahead on 83 minutes. The hosts had Ricky Wilson sent off, then home goalkeeper Wes Hallett saved an Ashley Carr penalty before Edwards forced home the leveller.

Pagham boss Richie Reynolds said: "I think they edged it possession-wise but they never really opened us up."

Horsham YMCA boss John Suter branded his title-contenders as pretenders after they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Arundel.

YMCA have only picked up one point from their last three matches and Suter insisted his side's failure to convert chances will ruin their championship bid.

He said: "We scored 56 goals in our opening 20 matches, but now have only scored once in the last three. Teams that win titles are a lot better than that."

Prolific scorer Phil Churchill, who has struck 28 goals this season, was dropped to the bench after a dry spell. The only goal was a long-range effort by Jason Hughes on the hour.

Wick, who still believe they can win the title, beat Hassocks 3-1.

Ben Milford put Wick in front, but Steve Wilkins levelled when he hammered home a loose ball. Adam Simpson put Wick back in front before Gareth Green extended the advantage.

Assistant boss Paul Croft said: "We're going for the title. It's possible, but we're going to have to do it the hard way."

Sidley United, in sixth, were the highest placed team in the division to win. Left-back Paul Sully scored with a dipping volley from 25 yards after just ten minutes to secure a 1-0 win at home to Chichester.

Assistant-manager Peter Heritage said: "Our aim was to improve on last year when we finished sixth. However, with a good run we could push for it.

"If we don't win it, we will have a big say in who will."

Teenage centre-back David O'Donnell netted his first goal for Three Bridges with just three minutes remaining to secure to a 2-1 home win against Eastbourne United.

Tobi Hutchinson had given United a first-half lead but Bridges fought back to dominate the second half with Lee Hanson grabbing an equaliser before O'Donnell volleyed home.

Sixteen-year-old Peter Joel struck a last-minute winner as Selsey edged past rock bottom East Preston 2-1.

A Michael Barrett header had given EP the lead on 64 minutes but a Jason Reed free-kick levelled matters six minutes later, then substitute Joel struck a cracker from 25 yards.

Selsey boss Danny Hinshelwood said: "It must be disappointing for East Preston but if they continue to play like that they will get themselves out of trouble."

Sidlesham manager Ian Hilman is not putting any pressure on his championship outsiders after a 3-1 win at Redhill.

Hilman said: "We're just going to keep ticking along and see how it goes. I am happy to be among the top batch of clubs."

Wayne Eastman put his side ahead from the spot, but Redhill's Luke Gedling levelled with another penalty.

Steve Warwick restored Sidlesham's advantage before he put the game beyond Redhill's reach.

First-half goals from James Morris and Jason Reid helped Ringmer to a comfortable 2-0 win at Whitehawk.

Manager Glen Geard said: "We could have won by six or seven. We showed a lot of character to bounce back after our defeat last week."

Eastbourne Town boss Pete Cherry was disappointed with just a point after a 1-1 draw with Lancing. Leon Cumming put Town ahead, but Simon Chapman levelled from the penalty spot.

Cherry said: "We had chances, but the referee didn't help out cause."

Recent signing John Carey was dismissed for disputing the spot-kick.
