It's sad the two former rose beds at the bottom of Brighton's Church Street have now been turned into scraps of turf and topped off by muddy puddles and the "raised flower beds" in Duke Street and Bond Street are just permanent rubbish receptacles.
But it's sadder still that Steine Gardens still bear the heavy imprint of the vehicles that were driven all over them at the New Year celebrations.
There are still party poppers squelched into the mud amid the tyre marks that disfigure the lawns.
Please, please, can no council department take responsibility for cleaning the mess up?
And can't future celebrations be staged in Madeira Drive so as to give the poor gardens a chance?
