Albion manager Micky Adams is planning to boost his squad with two loan signings, writes Andy Naylor.
Adams hopes to wrap both deals up for Saturday's home game against rock-bottom York. There could even be a new face in time for tonight's visit by Blackpool.
"I am looking at strengthening the squad in terms of a couple of loan deals," Adams revealed. I might have something for tonight and certainly for Saturday.
"We have got a couple of targets. I have spoken to the respective managers and we are waiting for answers.
"I have got a few players who are stagnating slightly and are confident they are going to play. The boys have worked ever so hard to get where we are and I don't want to blow it."
Meanwhile, Adams has admitted Albion could receive a bid they cannot refuse for goal ace Bobby Zamora.
Last night we exclusively revealed that Albion have rejected a £1.5 million offer for Zamora from Second Division Wigan.
That is £300,000 more than Cardiff were prepared to pay before Christmas for the 20-year-old hotshot.
Adams said: "I don't want to be selling my top goalscorer, certainly not in the next couple of months, so I am pleased the Board of Directors have turned it down.
"I would think the Board have an asking price, but I am not aware of the figure. There has to come a stage where a bid is acceptable and I understand that. If not it becomes the silly season.
"But I have spoken to Bobby about this latest bid and, no disrespect to Wigan, he wants to stay at the minute."
