Old people are venerated for their wisdom in many parts of the world, but in Brighton and Hove they are often abused by youngsters who should know better.
Now pensioners have got together to put on a production called Did You Ever?
There are plenty of pensioners in the country ranging from Sir Patrick Moore, the Selsey-based astronomer, to playwright Sir John Mortimer, who are still popular and productive well past their supposed sell-by date.
But this message needs broadcasting more widely and the feisty pensioners from one of Britain's newest cities are just the people to do it.
Their timing is excellent since, with months to go before a general election, all parties will be angling for the politically important grey vote.
