Gavin Geddes will decide tonight whether to join Lewes's promotion charge.
The much travelled striker had been expected to sign for the Rooks last night but instead helped Horsham beat Leyton Pennant with a second-minute goal.
Geddes, who has struck 23 times for Hornets this season, will tell boss John Maggs late today whether he intends staying on for the rest of the Division Two season.
Maggs said: "I played my last cards with him last night and tried to persuade him to stay. His mates are at Lewes and he fancies playing with them and he is looking for a change."
Geddes was booed by Horsham supporters when his name was read out over the Queen Street loundspeakers last night.
But the jeers turned to cheers when he coolly slid home Matt Smart's through ball to give Horsham their flying start. The Sussex hit man left the ground within minutes of the final whistle without giving too many clues as to his future.
Rooks boss Jimmy Quinn said: "He has told me he is definitely signing. We have been looking for a striker. It has cost us in a couple of games this year "
