Crowborough look best placed to gain promotion from the Sussex Open League after a 2-0 victory over long time leaders South Saxons.
The result leaves Borough a point behind Saxons with a game in hand.
After being denied on a number of occasions, Crowborough went ahead towards the end of the first half when Darren Pulman opened the scoring with an unstoppable strike just inside the right hand post.
Goalkeeper Dave Clark preserved the lead with a super save from Nicky Phillips just before half time and Crowborough continued to hold firm in the second half.
Late on, the visitors forced several penalty corners, one of which was converted by Paul Credland to seal victory.
Southwick remain third in the league despite a surprise 3-1 defeat at the hands of Worthing III. David Jackson scored for Southwick but goals from Matt Sefton (2) and Dan Lock secured victory for Worthing.
Lewes IV remain fourth after beating Brighton IV 4-2. Liam Russell scored a hat-trick with Pete Fleming getting the other.
Middleton and Bognor II are up to sixth after a 7-2 success over Sussex University. Chris Pacey scored a hat-trick with Mark Dawling and Richard Bond getting two apiece.
Littlehampton secured a much needed 2-1 win at home to fellow strugglers South Saxons II thanks to a brace from Colin Warner. Damian Bunting replied.
Horsham IV crashed to a 7-2 defeat away to Chichester 3A despite goals from Steve O'Dowd and Baz Ghaleigh.
Sussex Police look odds-on for promotion from Division One after winning 2-0 in their top-of-the-table clash with South Saxons III. Paul Sellings and Mervyn Wyeth got the goals, both from short corners.
Penguins II hammered Hailsham 5-1 with goals from Rob Howland (two), Andy Saunders, Kym Holden and Richard Antram. Hailsham's reply came from Ian Johnson.
Jason Stroud (two) and Steve Boniface were the marksmen as Penguins III overcame Brighton V 3-0.
Southwick II defeated Worthing IV 4-1 with Dave Tingley, Roger Langmaid, Nick Slater and Stuart Beaney on target. Jamie Luke got the lone reply with a penalty corner.
Lewes V overcame Middleton and Bognor III 3-0 with Robert Hurst (two) and Scott Sallis on target.
Billy Donohoe got the consolation as St Francis lost 2-1 away to Crawley III.
In Division Two, bottom side Newhaven II claimed only their second win of the season - a 4-0 triumph over Worthing V, who they also beat earlier in the campaign.
Rob Robertson scored twice in the first half with newcomer Alex Court and Steve Kent getting the others.
Leaders Crowborough beat Crawley IV 3-1 with goals from Talbot, Sykes and Barrett.
Two goals from James MacDonald were not enough to stop Littlehampton II from tumbling to a 3-2 defeat away to Mid Sussex III.
Southwick III overcame Lewes 5A 3-0 with goals from Warwick McClymont (2) and Paul Selley.
South Saxons IV eased to a 5-1 win over Penguins IV in Division Three. Scorers were Steve Richardson, Julian Buss, Andy Keen, Dean McTavish and Aaron Reynolds.
Lewes Lions maintained top spot in Division Four with a 6-3 success away to Brighton Flippers. Scorers were Kevin Doble, Tom Stratford, Tom Eveleigh, Richard Chilcott, Alex Calff and Tom Crook.
St Francis II and Hailsham II shared a goalless draw.
East Grinstead set up a repeat of last year's final when they beat Indian Gymkhana 2-0 in the fourth round of the HA Veterans Cup. Grinstead now take on Khalsa, who they beat in the final of last year's competition.
That quarter final will take place on Sunday March 11.
Neil Longstreet was the hero against Indian Gymkhana, scoring both Grinstead goals in an impressive victory.
Worthing Veterans triumphed 5-3 against Brighton thanks to a hat-trick from M. Belver and two goals by John Herbert.
