SHARP RISE: The number of small businesses against joining the single currency has risen sharply to 70 per cent, research by the Forum of Private Business showed.
MILESTONE: Internet service provider BTinternet has signed up its millionth customer. The ISP has doubled its customer base in the last six months, with customer acquisition running at 29,000 customers per week.
SLOW TURN: Media packaging firm Coral Products has warned its profits for the year will not match those reported last time. The company blamed a slowdown in the demand for CD products.
STEP DOWN: Derek Wilkinson is stepping down as group finance director of Scottish & Newcastle after 26 years. Mr Wilkinson will leave in July to take early retirement.
