More than 1,500 runners pounded along Brighton seafront for the Sussex Beacon Half Marathon.
The event, which has been taking place for ten years, raises funds for the Brighton-based charity which offers care for people with HIV/AIDS-related diseases.
More than £1,200 was raised in donations before the race yesterday and considerably more than that is expected to be raised in sponsorship.
The race was started by Sussex Beacon's Graham Taylor and Brighton and Hove mayor Andy Durr presented the prizes.
This year saw the re-launch of the half marathon with the help of the three Brighton and Hove athletics clubs, Arena 80 AC, Brighton and Hove AC and Phoenix AC.
All the proceeds from the event will be used by the Sussex Beacon to help bridge the £400,000 gap between its statutory funding and actual running costs.
The Sussex Beacon Half Marathon was supported by Brighton and Hove Council and the Jog Shop.
Race results can be found on the website at www.sussexbeacon.co.uk.
