The father of Simon Jones, the student killed by a crane while working at Shoreham Harbour, was today campaigning outside an industry safety summit.
Chris Jones and his sister-in-law Margaret Thomas carried banners bearing Simon's face outside the conference in London.
The construction industry safety summit has been called by Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott and the Health and Safety Commission following more than 100 deaths on building sites in the last 12 months, the highest figure for more than a decade.
Mr Jones and his wife Anne campaigned for two years before the Crown Prosecution Service brought manslaughter charges against Euromin Ltd and the firm's general manager James Martell in relation to their son's death.
Simon, a Sussex University student, died on his first day of work at Shoreham Harbour on April 24 1998.
Euromin is due to appear before Bow Street magistrates in London on March 6. The case is likely to be sent to the Central Criminal Court.
