Troubled mutual insurer Equitable Life has replaced its chief executive, Chris Headdon, after just three months.
The insurer's chairman, Vanni Treves, revealed he had appointed Charles Thomson as his new chief executive in an open letter to policyholders. There was no comment about Mr Headdon or his work in the letter.
Mr Treves said: "A new senior management team and board needs to be put in place. I am glad that Charles Thomson has agreed to take over as chief executive."
