Paul Elphick has won the Brighton singles title for the sixth time. His victim in the final at the Newman School, Hove, was French top-spinner Stefan Bonnafous.
Elphick, a comfortable 21-13, 21-18 winner, said: "He is a good top spinner on both wings but my bullets were harder.
"I'm fitter now having lost a stone. I'm looking forward to the All-Sussex Championships at Horsham and perhaps having another crack at Ritchie Venner."
Elphick was expected to meet the second seed Prakash Varsani, the Oldham champion, in the final.
In the semi-finals, Elphick defeated veteran Chris Baker 21-11, 21-15 and Bonnafous accounted for the Hollingbury player Varsani 21-19, 21-15.
Lynne Thompson won the women's singles title. She beat Caroline Van Tran 21-19, 21-14.
Horsham consolidated third place in the British league premier division at Barnet with a 9-5 victory.
Venner and Laurence Trumpauskas were both undefeated.
Adrian Moore, back but not fully recovered from injury, failed to score and Nigel Eckersley claimed one victim.
All four Horsham players were successful in the doubles, yielding two valuable wins that sealed the two points.
The Veterans' International Open at Liverpool this Easter has been cancelled due a long running dispute over procedure between the promoter Mike Johns and the English Table Tennis Association.
