Over the last century, voters have seen a continuous slide away from local democracy.
The election of a dictatorial mayor will sweep away all those chances ordinary working people have to influence councillors, form coalitions and modify and influence decision making.
In its place will be a corrupt system dependent on "having the ear of the mayor" and personal favour.
I'm old enough to remember the era of dictators and wars in Europe. No more Great Leaders for me.
