The poor name and address supplied who thought he or she was accused of being cowardly and back-stabbing (Opinion, March 30), is confusing being conservative and being a Conservative.
Whatever, I support his or her reasons for remaining anonymous. In today's climate, one must never be put in the position whereby one's home or place of work is in jeopardy.
Of course, Dean Martin was wrong to accuse you of such tactics but, equally, you should not accuse anyone of snide personal attacks. He was out of order. As an ex-civil servant, I know the frustrations of having to keep a still tongue in my head.
You should not be prevented from writing to The Argus. The letters editor will make sure your reasons for anonymity are well founded and anyone who questions it is of no consequence.
As a Conservative voter, I have to be positive.
Therefore, I am positive we are facing an uphill struggle.
