I was very disappointed to read about Sita being awarded a contract to collect recyclable refuse.
I have been using Magpie to collect paper and they haven't let us down once. They're reliable, polite and, above all, they're a good example of a small business initiative.
What has Sita done to deserve this, apart from offer a cheaper contract? It has shown time and again how unreliable they are - even their own workers were shown to be unhappy with their employment conditions.
We already have enough constraints when it comes to recycling - it was hard enough to set up a scheme
for my company but it was done. I think it will be a very sad day when the council realises what a mistake it has made.
I'm sure I'm speaking for a lot of people when I say: "Let Magpie have a chance."
