Fast bowler Billy Taylor has been given the all-clear to team up with his Sussex team-mates again.

Taylor underwent an operation in February to cure a stress fracture in his ankle and did not go on the county's successful pre-season tour of Grenada.

A specialist has confirmed Taylor has not suffered any adverse reaction while he continued his rehabilitation at home.

Coach Peter Moores said: "I have spoken to Billy and every-thing has gone well.

"He's bowling and running at three-quarter pace, but he should be fully fit by the start of the season."

After two weeks of Caribbean sunshine the players flew home on Thursday and report back on Monday for a week of indoor training.

Hove is still not fit for outdoor practice and the warm-up games against Durham and Middlesex have already been cancelled.

There is already a doubt over the three-day game against Gloucestershire, which is due to start on Easter Sunday.

If the County Ground remains out of action, the match may be switched to Hastings where the seconds are due to play a one-day match on Wednesday week.

The same day Sussex travel to Northamptonshire to complete their preparations in a hastily arranged one-day game.

Next week the squad are likely to use the indoor facilities at Brighton University in Eastbourne.

Moores added: "There will be the opportunity there for a varied programme. Whatever happens, we have two good weeks' preparation under our belts. The Grenada trip went extremely well. We won four games out of five and I think we are in good shape for the start of the season."
