Mother and son duo Roger and Jo Stanton dominated the titles for a second year as the Paupersis Angling Club held their annual presentation at the Bevendean Club.

Roger Stanton won the overall championship with 296 fish weighing 124lb caught throughout 2000. It is the fourth time he has won the title.

Roger's mum, Jo, won the ladies' title with 81 fish weighing 32lb 4.5oz as the pair repeated last year's success. Jo has only been competing for the last two years.

The title for 2001 has already begun with four competitions held so far.

Bewl Water Fishery was able to start the season from the boats and was rewarded with a tremendous rod average of 5.23 and an amazing average size of 3lb 4oz per catch.

More than 650 rods fished Bewl in the first eight days and, as expected, plenty of overwintered fish added to the excellent stockfish with some notable bags taken.

The top fish was a 10lb 4oz rainbow caught by Andrew Moretta who used a white and green lure close to the dam.

Peter Stonestreet had a seven-fish bag which included rainbows of 5lb 1oz, 5lb 13oz and 6lbs to add up to a total bag weight of 24lb 13oz. Eighty-seven percent of fish returned weighed 2lb or more.
