Computer systems manager Neil Streeter set up an individual championship winning performance in the sixth and final round of the Billingshurst Winter League.
Broadbridge Heath resident Neil, 37, was two points behind long time leader Chris James of Billingshurst Green at the start of the match, but while Chris stuttered with 14lb, Neil struck ten carp for a 27lb 14oz total.
They were only three pegs apart on the top lake at Willingshurst (Cranleigh) and it was a cat and mouse situation but Neil, alternating feeder and pole with maggot, found carp, with the best on the 5lb mark. Streeter fishes for Pulborough Blue.
He won a week's holiday for two in Portugal and wife Linda and daughters Katie and Alice are itching to get away. But there is a fishery at the holiday complex and it might be difficult trying to persuade the champion not to take his rod!
Eight fished the last round and 1,045lb was caught. It was mainly carp and roach.
Top on the day was Nick Forshew of Pulborough Carringdale Blue who at peg 65 on the new lake took ten carp for 56lb 4oz. He was alternating pole and feeder with maggot and his best fish was 8lb.
