While I'm pleased the first units are finally opening on the much-delayed Aquarium Terraces development, I can't agree with the Voice of the Argus (March 27) about the design being
elegant and worthy of its setting. On the contrary, to my mind there are several reasons, for disliking what has been done.
This huge development threatens to bring extra noise and nuisance to an area already under stress.
It has also destroyed the terraces where people could stroll and admire the sea view, it has involved excessive demolition or alteration of listed structures, it spoils views in both directions of the sea from Marine Parade and the sails at the west end and the green strip-lighting around the site is particularly tacky.
