Former Albion defender Stuart Tuck hit the only goal as Worthing pulled off their third successive win and the double over Walton and Hersham.
Rebels, safe from relegation, have looked a much tighter unit in their last three games, conceding only two goals, having previously leaked 15 goals in four straight defeats.
The introduction of 18-year-old Andrew Beech from Albion has helped shore up the defence whilst the system has been changed to accommodate Damian Webber in midfield.
Tuck gave Worthing maximum points by blasting a disputed 53rd-minute penalty high into the middle of the net after Ben Carrington was adjudged to have been brought down by Alan Dowson.
Carrington had seized onto a weak clearance from keeper Luke Garrard before entering the area, and Dowson received a caution for arguing about the decision.
Walton, unbeaten in their previous eight games, pushed Worthing back in the last 15 minutes but .keeper Lee Bray was not seriously tested.
